BUYING COUPONS MONTHLY!

So, do you really need so many coupons that you should buy them? That is the question. I have found for me that on average for a sunday I will have 4 smart source and 4 redplum inserts. But  its not enough. I think its because it depends on what your buying. For example If the item is 2@4.00 and you have a coupon for $1.00 off 1 item then you need two coupons. Or if the item is bogo free then you again will need 2 coupons.  I have been couponing since May of this year, and I have been buying coupons occassionally as I needed them. I have mentioned this site before mycouponhunter. She has a subscription that you can purchase monthly. In the beginning I was wondering why would you need so many coupons. But now I understand. When I go shopping sometimes I use 15-35 coupons. So I signed up for the 100 coupons/$15.00. Plus I figured some of my friends can share the subscription. Also  when I have a class or show someone how to coupon it helps to have extra coupons available. Since she offers free shipping on your first 4 orders I figured I'd try it out. So this is what I ordered and why.

4 Oil of Olay $4.00/1 +4 BOGO coupon for ivory bodywash free wyb Olay (CVS had the 15oz bottle for $7.00 which was a great sale. Everyone else is selling the 8oz bottle for $8.00 or more. So for $3.00 a bottle I stored up for my mom who loves it. Since the coupon doenst expire till 7/31/2010 I'm hoping for an even better upcoming sale.
4 Publix only -$1.00/1 perdue perfect portion + 4 Perdue mfg coupon for $0.75/1 (i love this chicken, i can take out 1 breast or 2. Plus I cut them  butterfly style and it doubles the amount. So good on a sandwhich or in pasta dish.
10 Jimmy Dean BOGO + Jimmy Dean  $2.00/2 (which makes this $0.98 for 2 and if  I catch the sale 2 @4.00 then its free!! This expires 8/31/2010.
2 Curly BBG $2.00/1 they expire of 7/23... Their on sale at publix this week, I only got 2 so i could get 2 more containers  free! It was really tasty.
4 Ritz crackerfuls $1.00/1  great snack but they are expensive. I wait for BOGO free sale, the coupon doesnt expire till 9/6. So these were really a good deal.
10 Dawn dish detergent $0.50/1 I get these from CVS they are normally $1.00 So for $2.00 I can get 4 bottles which last a pretty long time.

If you decide to purchase coupons. Decide for yourself which way will be best for you. I have purchased just $3.00 worth or the minimum on the site. I get paid twice a month. So I purchase things often based on when I know I will have funds, and hopefully when the sale is the best. Let me know what works for you?

ONE OF MY BEST WEEKS YET!
CHECK OUT MY CVS SAVINGS!
AND MY PUBLIX SAVINGS FOR THIS WEEK!
I love the Curly Tub of BBQ chicken/beef. We got them free with the coupons $1.50/1 plus the $2.00/1 publix only coupons. So we got to try them out free. Since they are so good we are going back to buy 2 more. Make sure you buy some Publix coleslaw to put on the sandwhich if you eat them that way. I did by some of the bushes baked beans, they were BOGO too.

This is gonna be my next purchase. I do not have a food processor yet.  I saw on the Cooking channel, no it was on TLC John Besh has this new show, and he made a sauce with roasted red peppers and sun dried tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, onions. I think its called a Romescu? I'm gonna be trying it out soon.

Do you buy coupons? I know sometimes the coupons I need are just not in the Smartsource or Redplum on sunday. Or sometimes, I just dont have enough of a specific coupon. You know when items are BOGO or 2 for $$$ then you can use the 2 of the  $_/1 coupons. The one website I use most often is Mycouponhunter. She has a subscription service. So I decided to try it out. I am doing the 100 coupons for $15.00. I have already order 50 of them. The ones I need for my next 4 payperiods. I of course pick the ones that dont expire till July 31 or later.
One of the best deals by far is the Jimmy Dean bogo plus the $2.00/2. Which makes 2 rolls of jimmy dean sausage for $0.50-98. Great buy. If I can catch it on sale at Winn dixie for 2@ $4.00 then they will be free. Oh, and WD has the Premio italian sausage on sale again BOGO. I still have my coupon from facebook BOGO so the item is free.
If you wondering how the Buy 1 get 1 coupon works on and item that is buy 1 get 1 in the store. It works like this.  You buy 1 and the store buy's one, so you get 1 free. When you have a manufacturers coupon, then the store buy's 1 and the manufacturer buy's 1. So you get both items free. This is by far your best deal. So look out for BOGO coupons plus store sales of  BOGO.

knowledge is key!

So we have been doing really well on our shopping trips. We area spending 60-80% less in groceries and non food. What I just realized though, is that you have to time your shopping.  Some of the best coupon sites like (IHEARTPUBLIX) list a preview of the upcoming sales. So, if you have a list of things you need, you may need to wait till the next sale to purchase. Funnily enough I just figured this out. I was making a grocery list, I was looking at a Domino sugar coupon $2.00/1 if you buy 10 packs of kool-aid. I was looking at the site above and she has a preview of the adds for 6/24,  low and behold if Domino sugar is not gonna be on sale for $2.49 for 5lb bag, its normally $3.99. So for  $2.00 I basically get 10 packs of kool-aid and 1-5lb bag of sugar. Instead of buying it today, I'm gonna wait untill Thursday.
 Who said waiting doesnt pay!

Side thought.. OMG... have you tried that Starbucks coffee ice cream? OMG.. it is to die for! The Signature hot chocolate ice cream, or the Carmel Machiato ice cream, fantastic!!! Its almost like having a real frappachino. My son didnt like the Machiato, but he's 10 and this is definitely an adult treat. But, he did love the hot chocolate one. I got a coupon from their website for $1.00/2. It's on sale at Publix BOGO.. so its really worth it. Now next week the Bluebell will be on sale for $3.99. Go here to get a $1.00/1 (you will have to sign up). My mother loves butter pecan ice cream.  Bluebell has by far the best butter pecan we have ever tasted. Its creamy, and smooth, and has the most pecans of any other ice cream. I mean each mouthful you get a pecan. It was just too good to be true. Going shopping tomorrow, will let you know how well I do...

ITS AMAZING THE THINGS I'M LEARNING

I found this great site called

Saturday, June 12, 2010

OVERAGE

 - is when you purchase and item using coupons, and the item amount is the less then amount the coupons are good for. for ex: Publix had Vivarin on sale for $3.19  there green flyer has a coupon for $5.00 off any 2 boxes of several brands including the Vivarin.  Redplum had a coupon for $2.00/1(I had two of them).  You had to purchase 2 boxes to use the $5.00 coupon. So 2 @$3.19 = $6.38(q-9.00) giving you +$2.62.

Some may also call this a MM-Money maker. Because you were basically paid to shop at the store. These are great! No, I do not use the product, and will happily pass them on to someone else, but I did get the Keri lotion my mom uses for FREE.  It was $8.00, after the $3.00 publix coupon/$2.50 mfg coupon it left $2.50. So using my overage above I got all 3 items FREE!

If you need to buy coupons heres a great site.. I get most of mine from this one!

GROCERY & PHARMACY STORE TIP'S!

Always has great BOGO sales! Check to see if they will double your coupons.  Here in Orlando they  DO NOT double coupons.   But they will take most competitor coupons.    (Except Target).

*CHECK WITH YOUR STORE TO SEE WHO IS A COMPETITOR FOR YOUR GROCERY STORE.
THAT WAY YOU KNOW WHAT COUPONS THEY WILL TAKE.

Sometimes the BIG WD will give Publix a run for their money with the BOGO free sales. Plus the WD will take Target as well as CVS coupons. So sometimes you cannot help but shop here.

GET A CVS CARD! YOU GET GREAT DEALS WITH THEIR ECB REWARDS! THIS IS THE BEST PLACE TO GET MOST OF YOUR NON FOOD ITEMS.

ALSO HAS CASH REGISTER REWARDS. MAKE SURE YOU SIGN UP TO GET A CARD. THEY HAVE GREAT DEALS AS WELL!

I HAVENT SHOPPED AT TARGET YET! BUT THEY HAVE SOME GREAT COUPONS ON THEIR SITE. I WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW THE SHOPPING GOES ON MY FIRST TRIP COMING UP SHORTLY.
ARE YOU TRYING TO SAVE MONEY?
TRYING TO MAKE YOUR $1 STRETCH?
SO AM I! COME FOLLOW ME! LETS DO IT TOGETHER.

I am learning how to coupon correctly. Here's what I have learned so far:

1. GET THE SUNDAY PAPER. GET AS MANY AS YOU CAN GET, PREFERABLY FREE!
I get mine from my neighbor who gives me the coupon inserts and the sale paper. I also get some from my mothers friends from church.

2. HAVE A PLAN AND AND LIST
You dont have to buy things you dont need to save money. The best couponers get what they WANT either free or very inexpensive. But, you need to have a list of the items/brands you will use on a regular basis. But, dont be afraid to changes brands if necessary. For ex. I use Cottonelle toliet paper, but if a similar brand is on sale and I have a great coupon then I will buy an alternate brand. Be willing to trade. Often you will have many coupons left over. Find a coupon group or start one. I am a member of both of these.

3. ALWAYS LOOK FOR THE BOGO FREE SALES

Buy one get one free means, you buy one, and the store buys one, so you get one free. There are manufacturers coupons that offer BOGO. If you find these and the store also has the item for BOGO then you get both items FREE. How? Because it means the store buys one, and the manufacturer buys one, so you get both FREE!

4. ITS OKAY TO BUY COUPONS
There are some great sites out there that sell coupons for 8-15cents per coupon. If the coupon is $1.00/1 then you made your money back with just the one coupon. I bought one coupon that was $4.00/1 so for 15cents it wass well worth it to buy the coupon. Most sites only require a minimum purchase of $1-$3.00, and i only use the ones that charge the cost of a stamp plus a minimum processing fee.

I am new to couponing. You know, for the longest time I thought in order to get the real deals you had to buy stuff you didnt really use. Stock up on can goods ( yikes?) I rarely use can stuff, so image how happy I am that I dont have to buy things I dont use. The trick to this is just a little planning. Just a little research, and the willingness to ask questions. There are way more people couponing than I would have ever imagined. When I decided to coupon I found that I had so many coupons left over. I thought "hey, why dont i start a website where I can sell these extra coupons". I could charge 10c a coupon." HA. Little did I know I was late. There are already these great sites out there. UGH! What do I do now? I am gonna just  do what I am doing, and perhaps I can help someone else out there do it easier.
